My name is Freddie, but most people call me “Flat Freddie” because, well, I’m flat. Before I go into that interesting story, I'll tell you a little about myself. I'm ten years old and in the 5th grade. My favorite subject is Language Arts, because I love to write! I also enjoy learning about my community and visting local historical sites. I wear suspenders and a bow-tie everyday because my grandfather wears them and I think he looks spiffy! This blog is about the different adventures I take in my city, Birmingham, AL!
Now I guess I should tell you about how I got flattened. It all happened about six months ago when I was playing hide-and-seek with my brother, Bobby. I thought I had found the perfect spot - the laundry hamper. I hid and I hid and I hid; Bobby never found me! When I finally decided to emerge from my perfect hiding spot, I realized I wasn’t at home in my mother’s closet anymore! I was being dumped out of the hamper onto a moving belt. I looked around to see clothes in plastic bags hanging all above and around me; I was at the cleaners! Suddenly, I realized the conveyer belt was moving me closer and closer to the steam roller where the clothes are ironed! I tried to stand up and run the opposite direction, but the belt was just moving too fast and before I knew it, I was being squeezed through the steamroller like a pair of khaki pants! To my surprise, it didn’t hurt one bit. I survived! I hopped off the conveyer belt and found myself face-to-face with a 2-D version of myself. A closer look in the mirror confirmed it - I was flat! The steamroller hard ironed me right into a pancake! All I could think was, "What will my mother say?!"
